Trio of Cakes – Ada + Shaun

You know what I love? People who love cake. Not just a little bit, but the kind of people who genuinely get excited about cake, sending me pinterest boards and pictures of cakes. Ada + Shaun did exactly that. Their clear commitment to wanting something absolutely delicious but completely drool worthy to look at was evident from the get go and I knew I just HAD to make these guys their wedding cakes.

Ada and Shaun came in and we discussed their order in detail. They wanted a main cake as the focus of the display, a secondary cake and a tart. A tart I hear you say? For a wedding? Hell yeah! Traditional flavours and dark moody vibes with pops of burgundy and foliage greens.

The wedding was being held at the stunning Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood, Melbourne. And if you haven’t already seen this venue, it has those dark moody vibes in the main restaurant area and then a greenhouse of plants with light pouring in from the skylight. The perfect setting for the design brief.

THE ORDER:

Main cake – Semi naked buttercream finish + berry toffee drizzles + cut figs + blackberries+ cut pomegranate + fresh foliage.
Flavour: Chocolate and salted caramel

Cake 2: Full buttercream smooth finish + torched meringue piled high + fresh flowers/foliage provided by florist.

Flavour: Coconut

Tart : Chocolate short crust pastry, pistachio frangipane filling and studded with raspberries. Glazed + decorated with fresh berries + salty milk crumble and crushed freeze dried berries.
Colour tones: Dark and moody/ berry tones
